Quinte West OPP stopped a large amount of marijuana going through Quinte West Sunday.
Police responded to calls about a large rental van on Trenton-Frankford road around 7 p.m. Sunday. The caller said the van smelled of marijuana. Police stopped the vehicle on County Road 5 west of Frankford.
Further investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 70 garbage bags of suspected cannabis plants weighing more than 1,400 pounds, cash and a cell phone.
Phuoc Nguyen, 56, of Hamilton was arrested and charged with:
- Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
- Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available
- Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest more than Four Cannabis Plants
- Possession of One or More Cannabis Plants in Public Place (are Budding or Flowering)
Nguyen is slated to appear in court in Belleville on December 14.
