One of the world’s most respected and used online reading programs for elementary school students is proving beneficial to students under the jurisdiction of the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board.
At its meeting tonight the school board will see a report on licensing of and results from the use of Lexia programs.
Of 746 elementary students using one of the Lexia reading programs, 87% were reading at or above their grade level, up from 75% before the use of the program.
At the same time the number of students reading two grades or more below their grade level was reduced substantially.
In July the school board invested almost $162,000 to purchase licences to use Lexia for a two-year period.
