UPDATE: OPP say a woman was killed in an early morning fire near Havelock

UPDATE @ 10:45 a.m.: Provincial Police now say they are investigating an early morning fire south of Havelock after a woman was found dead inside the home.

Havelock-Belmont-Methuen firefighters were called to a structure fire on County Road 30 around 5:30 a.m. and Peterborough County OPP say the woman was found inside, around 9:00 a.m.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze and police say no further details will be released on the victim until the family has been notified.

For now, OPP have closed the soutbound lane of County Road 30 between Browns Line and Old Norwood Road and say that closure will be in place for a few hours.

There may be lane restrictions in place on County Road 30 as Havelock-Belmont-Methuen firefighters continue to deal with a structure fire that started early this morning.

Flames broke out inside a home around 5:30 a.m. but it’s not known yet if anyone was inside at the time.

Peterborough County OPP have closed one lane of County Road 30 between Browns Line and Old Norwood Road and are asking drivers to be on the lookout for emergency personnel, who are still working at the scene.
