The Belleville Fire Department has provided more detail on a serious house fire Saturday afternoon.
As we reported Saturday, a house fire broke out on Doxtator Drive in Point Anne in the east end of Belleville around noon.
A man suffered burns to his arms and torso but was released from Belleville General Hospital later Saturday.
A family of three has been left homeless but the two-storey barn style house, valued at $250,000, was insured.
The fire’s cause came from vegetable oil flaming in the kitchen and is considered accidental, The injured man was in the kitchen cooking at the time.
Flames spread from the lower floor up the attic and through the roof.
