The Belleville Police Service responded to 65 calls for service from October 7, 2020 at 5 a.m. to October 8, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Shoplifting
On October 7, 2020 at 10:51 a.m., police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a north end business. Through investigation police learned that the suspect had stolen a quantity of video games. The accused, 33-year-old Bruce Cooney of Belleville was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of stolen property. Cooney was released on an appearance notice with a November court date.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
Police investigated five motor vehicle collisions throughout the 24-hour period. Highway Traffic Act charges were laid in three of the incidents and there were no injuries reported.
