Another major fundraising event has been cancelled due to COVID-19
Volunteer and Information Quinte says, despite holding out as long a possible, they’ve had to cancel Dancing With The Stars Quinte for this year.
The announcement is a heavy blow to VIQ, with that event accounting for close to 40% of the organization’s annual budget.
VIQ staff have continued to work through the pandemic, being deemed an “essential agency” and have been cataloguing an essential services listing, while helping to coordinate volunteers for various COVID-19 support efforts.
In a statement on Tuesday afternoon, VIQ’s Tracey Legault-Davis is encouraging more community support through donations, sponsorship and volunteering, as the second wave begins.
