A sawed-off shotgun was seized after police executed a search warrant on a car in Trent Hills and three people are facing charges.
On July 25 of this year police stopped a black four door Mazda sedan on County Road 30 south of Campbellford. The driver was arrested and charged and the vehicle impounded. The same day, Northumberland OPP and special units searched the impounded vehicle in relation to illegal weapons associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs in Trent Hills.
Police seized a sawed-off pump action shotgun as well as ammunition.
Twenty-one-year-old Isaac Verheyen and 19-year-old Alyssa Forbes of Brighton and 24-year-old Christopher Armstrong of Trent Hills are charged with:
- Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of weapon
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearms/ammunition
Armstrong is additionally charged with:
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (2 counts)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
All three people were released and will appear in court in Cobourg on November 18.
