A new grant has been established in Prince Edward County to help organizations recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The municipality has partnered with The County Foundation to launch the Municipal COVID-19 Recovery Grants.
The funding comes from unallocated monies from the 2020 Municipal Community Grant program as well as funds from The County Foundation. The foundation’s allocation will focus on Vital Signs priorities primarily in the areas of food security, health, transportation, and education.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says many groups that deliver key services and programs now face significant obstacles because of the pandemic and it is vital these organizations get back up and running as quickly as possible.
The County Foundation Executive Director Jefferson Gilbert says this new program is a great opportunity and they really want to assist as many groups as possible.
Any community group, not-for-profit, or charity based in the County and serving County residents can apply. Groups are welcome to apply even if they are not a registered charity or not-for-profit.
Groups not based in the County cannot apply.
County groups that have already received money in 2020 from the following programs cannot apply:
- Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF)
- Investment Readiness Program (IRP)
- The PEC Helping PEC COVID-19 Fund
- 2020 Municipal Community Grant, in whole or in part
The application deadline is Monday, October 16 at noon. Visit The County Foundation website for more information.
