Belleville police apprehended a man wanted on a country-wide arrest warrant Saturday.
Police were called to a west end apartment yesterday around 6:30 a.m. for a woman who was assaulted in a hallway.
Upon arrival, police found a man being held by the woman’s boyfriend. After checking further into the man, they found that it was 25-year-old Thusanth Ariyanayagam who was wanted Canada-wide by Corrections Canada for being at large while on his way to an intergration home in Kingston.
He was taken into custody by Corrections Canada and was charged with assault by Belleville police. He will appear in court on October 15.
