The employment rate in the Quinte region rose from July to August, according to Statistics Canada.
In the Kingston-Pembroke economic region, which the Quinte region is a part of, the unemployment rate fell by 0.8% from July to August and now sits at 10.1%. In August of 2019 the unemployment rate was at just 6%.
The increase in unemployment is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Canada’s unemployment rate sits at 10.2%. Meanwhile in Ontario the unemployment rate is 10.6%.
