The dreary skies are expected to stay for much of the day and Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Quinte region.
The weather agency says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.
Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon or early this evening with wind gusts near 90 kilometres per hour moving west to east through the region.
Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
