The COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent temporary shutdown of the construction industry has had a major effect in the City of Quinte West.
While the month of August wasn’t much different than last year, statistics from the first eight months of the year tell a different story.
So far this year 395 building permits have been issued in Quinte West with a total value of just over $48 million.
In the first eight months of last year, 572 permits were issued totalling over $107 million.
Meanwhile, last month 129 permits were issued for a value of $16.4 million. Most of that came from 47 new residential units.
In August of last year there were 106 permits valued at $17.5 million.
