“Slowly figure out how a theatre can exist under these circumstances and moving forward and realizing that probably people are going to be cautious for a little while.”
“I’ve started talking to teachers and principals and schools saying in 2020 we’re not going to be going out on field trips so maybe I can bring the theatre to them.”
Taking theatre productions to seniors’ homes is also being looked at.
In a statement MacDougal adds:
(Love Letters) is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down. Love Letters will be performed by the Artistic Director, Ken MacDougall and his wife, Jane McClelland.
Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the theatre, arrows will indicate how to enter and exit the theatre and tickets will not be taken by the ushers. The theatre is using the Zoom performance as a trial for future online live streaming performances. The Stirling Festival Theatre is exploring live streaming shows like their popular panto to reach seniors (and seniors’ homes), people with disabilities, remote schools and people who may still be uncertain about attending live performances and public gatherings.
