Chair of the Quinte Humane Society Board of Directors Donna Endicott praised Rockett for his professional management and new approaches to fundraising.
Meanwhile, the Society is about one third of the way to its $9.6 million goal to build a new shelter and is optimistic about receiving significant funding from the provincial and federal governments in the near future.
The cities of Belleville and Quinte West have already made significant donations and Endicott says if the provincial and federal governments kick in it will make it easier to raise funds in the private sector.
The new shelter would be built at Old Highway 2 and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in Belleville.
