Shortly after 1:45 a.m. on August 27, 2020, a 911 call was received by Belleville dispatch of a structure fire on Bronk Road just off Scuttlehole Road, Firefighters from stations 3, 4 and 5 responded and on arrival found the rear of the home fully involved with fire and heavy smoke.
Tanker assist for water supply from Tyendinega and Mohawk fire departments was initiated quickly.
Firefighters were able to get control of the fire rapidly, and saved some precious family keepsakes in the basement.
The fire was extinguished with the aid of a high hoe which aided in the firefighters’ safety and finding hot spots.
The house is a total loss and a family of three with pets has lost their home.
The family has a place to stay with relatives during this hard time.
The home is insured and a damage estimate of $400,000.
There were no fatalities.
The area of fire origin was in the wall and attic near a back deck. The fire is suspected to be electrical.
The fire will be listed as accidental and remains under investigation.
