Belleville Police Service responded to 48 calls for service from August 23, 2020 at 5 a.m. to the August 24, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Domestic disturbance
On August 23, 2020 at 6 a.m., Belleville Police began an investigation into a domestic dispute in the north end of the city. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Belleville resident was charged with spousal assault. He was released with a court date on September 21, 2020.
Collision
On August 23, 2020 at 7 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Catherine Street, involving an unoccupied parked vehicle that was struck. Both vehicles were not driveable and no injuries were reported. As result of the investigation, the involved driver was charged with careless driving.
Obstructing, breaching and a warrant
On August 23, 2020 at 3:30 p.m., a Belleville Police officer was on patrol in the west end of the city when they observed a male who they believed was currently wanted. The 30-year-old London resident initially provided the officer with a false name and was later charged with obstructing police. His identity was confirmed and it was learned he was also breaching a court release order as well as a probation order. The male also had an outstanding Belleville warrant for spousal assault, mischief, robbery, two counts of breaching a release order and breaching his probation. He was held for a bail hearing on August 24, 2020.
