A senior officer with the Belleville Police Service is having his actions placed under the microscope.
Detective Brad Lentini has been charged with one count of neglect of duty under the Police Services Act.
The charge stems from an incident in August 2019 where a man suffered a broken arm while being escorted out of his home.
Lentini is being represented by Leo Kinahan of Newmarket and he says Lentini was the booking officer when the man was brought into the station.
The man was booked and then transported to the hospital for treatment.
The charge alleges Lentini did not do a proper assessment of the man’s injuries and failed to ensure the injuries were properly documented.
A Special Investigation Unit investigation was conducted in relation to the incident but Lentini was not the subject of that investigation.
A teleconference meeting is set for September 9 where an independent adjudicator will hear the charges.
Sgt. Rene Aubertin says the 30 year-veteran is still on active duty and is subject to internal discipline.
Aubertin also noted no further information will be released to the public as it is an active legal proceeding.
