The City of Belleville is preparing to develop a parks and recreation master plan.
Sierra Planning and Management of Toronto has been contracted to develop the comprehensive master plan which will act as a guide for the city for the next ten years.
A thorough public engagement process is set to begin next month and residents, community groups and stakeholders will be able to take part in a number of online and in-person sessions over the course of the project.
The document will touch on the City’s public park system, including land acquisition, development/redevelopment, community use and funding.
Upcoming community engagement includes:
-
Online Survey for Residents – Launching Mid-September
-
Online Survey for Sport and Recreation Groups – Launching Mid-September (by invitation only)
-
Initial Sessions for User Groups (online) – Mid-September (by invitation only)
-
Initial Community Session (online) – Late September
“The Parkland and Recreation Master Plan will provide direction for all future development and use of our City parks and green spaces over the next decade,” said CAO Rod Bovay. “Feedback collected from the public engagement process will be crucial in gauging the needs and priorities of our community. We urge residents to follow along with the project, stay tuned for each opportunity to provide their feedback, and participate in any way they can.”
More information on the project is available online. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to the Parkland and Recreation Master Plan webpage for upcoming engagement opportunities and updates.
