UPDATE @ 3:15 p.m.: The investigation into a late-night house fire in Prince Edward County is over, but the cause of the massive blaze is still undetermined.
Fire Chief Robert Rutter says the department’s investigator determined the blaze started in the basement, but they weren’t able to figure out exactly how it started.
Crews from three stations responded to the home at 123 McFaul Road, between Wellington and Ameliasburgh, around 11:00 p.m.
Rutter says the home was completely destroyed, with the estimated damage value around $400,000.
Despite the roof of the house collapsing, everyone inside was able to get out safely and nobody was injured.
