We have more information on a heavy police presence at the westbound Trenton ONroute yesterday evening.
OPP were called to help track down a car that had been stolen from Kingston and ended up at the Highway 401 service centre, around 6:30 p.m.
The suspects had ditched the car, but two were arrested at the service centre and two were picked up on Carman Road, just north of the highway.
Police have laid charges against the following people:
22-year-old Jhonier Rodriguez of Ancaster has been charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while prohibited
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Drive a motor vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock
19-year-old Kandice Watson Mackenzie of Hamilton is charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance
- Possession of a Schedule 3 substance
Both Rodriguez and Mackenzie were held for bail hearings in Belleville Court today.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Yousif Ghawi of Hamilton and a 17-year old male, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime.
They were both released from custody and are scheduled to appear Belleville court on October 1, 2020.
