UPDATE @ 2:55 p.m.: Emergency crews have cleared the scene of the crash and all lanes of the westbound Highway 401 are now open again, between Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Aikins Road.

Expect slowdowns on the westbound Highway 401 between Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Aikins road for the next little while, after a crash there early this afternoon, that has sent two people to Trenton Memorial Hospital.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan tells Quinte News two cars and a transport were involved in the crash, around 1:30 p.m. and one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles by firefighters.
Quinte West OPP and Hastings-Quinte Paramedics also responded, but the severity of any injuries hasn’t been released. Whelan says just the right lane of traffic is getting by and he expects crews to be on the scene for clean-up until close to 3:00 p.m.
