A chunk of the Federal Government’s $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund has landed with Hospice Quinte.
Hospice Quinte will be able to expand its existing grief and bereavement support services, in response to COVID-19 and the ongoing pandemic, thanks to a $40,000 grant.
The funding, doled out through the United Way of Hastings-Prince Edward will be used by Hospice Quinte to offer individual counselling, in addition to existing peer support programs, to help those who have lost a loved one over the course of the pandemic.
Executive Director Jennifer May-Anderson says they have seen a “significant rise in the need for increasingly complicated grief and bereavement support” due to the pandemic and the money will make a big difference.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis praised Hospice Quinte for its “tremendous” work in the community and says he hopes the money and added services can help make these tough situations a little easier to deal with.
