The MPP for Bay of Quinte says barring an outbreak or any other decisions from local school boards, high school and elementary students in Hastings-Prince Edward will be back at school, five days a week, as of September.
Todd Smith provided more insight on Ontario’s back-to-school plan, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.
Smith says after consultations with staff, students, parents and public health officials, the province is investing more than $300 million into PPE, supplies and staffing, to help keep students safe and healthy.
He says says he understands some parents may be hesitant to send their kids back, but he’s confident in the province’s plans.
Both the Hastings-Prince Edward District School Board and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School Board have said they will announce their board-specific plans in early August.
Smith will be a guest on 800 CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show on Friday morning to discuss the plan in further detail.
