The Belleville Senators will need to name a fourth captain in as many seasons, when the 2020/21 campaign begins.
Current captain Jordan Szwarz has signed a one-year deal with HC Torpedo of the Russian-based Kontinental Hockey League.
The 29-year-old had 18 goals and 18 assists in Belleville last season and was called up for three games in Ottawa, where he averaged just under 5 hours of ice time, without registering a point.
This will be Szwarz’s first trip overseas after playing 478 AHL games over a 10-year span notching 131 goals and 165 assists.
He becomes the third B-Sens player to head to Europe this off season, with defenceman Stuart Percy heading to Sport in Finland and defenceman Frank Corrado signing with MODO in Sweden.
