Belleville’s Pop-Ups on the Bay are enjoying a good start to this first summer season.
The nine Pop-Up entrepreneurs located at West Zwick’s Island have just completed the first month of this bayshore venture.
Acting Development and Tourism Co-ordinator Anne Munro tells Quinte News the demand for the food and other vendor products has been much greater than last year’s setup in West Riverside Park.
She adds, “Also each of the vendors worked with the heath unit to get their own COVID protocols in place. If there’s a picnic table with a Pop-Up specifically looking after it, it needs to be sanitized on a regular basis. The city put in a new protocol for sanitizing the bathrooms. We have someone onsite during the opening hours.”
Munro says, “For the city, it’s an opportunity to increase economic activity on the waterfront.”
She continued, “Until Pop-Ups and Venture Outfitters, offering rental kayaks canoes, and paddle boards, unless you owned a sailboat or motorboat you could look at the bay but couldn’t get on it.”
The Pop-Ups run from 11 am to 7 pm, 7 days a week, with some vendors staying open longer on some days.
