While an investigation is continuing, Belleville Fire Department officials say the cause of a blaze on Pepper Avenue on Sunday afternoon is believed to be accidental.
Firefighters from stations one and two responded around 4:00 p.m. Sunday and saw smoke and flames coming from the home.
A pair of neighbours were able to get two people out of the home before fire crews arrived and all four people were taken to hospital for treatment.
The two residents suffered serious undisclosed injuries and the bystanders were treated for smoke inhalation.
The BFD is using the incident as a reminder that you must have working smoke alarms on every level of your home.
The Ontario Fire Marshal is also helping with the ongoing investigation.
