Parking tickets in Prince Edward County in specific areas could go up, way up.
Staff are bringing a report forward to council during their meeting on Tuesday night that would seek to increase fines for those parked in no parking areas, specifically those near popular waterfront access areas.
The report suggests increasing the set fine from $50 to $400 (from $35 to $300 if paid within seven days).
Those fines, if approved would be in effect on all Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Staff are also recommending council expand no parking areas on weekends and statutory holidays.
Areas that would now be included in the expanded no parking zones would include Bakker Road, North Beach Road, Stinson Block Road near the water access points and Winn’s Drive and Islands Road on Sheba Island.
Council meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
