The new Belleville Police Service headquarters at College and Sidney streets remains on budget and the construction phase is almost complete.
The actual construction of the building should be finished sometime in September. The $26 million project has been delayed, mainly due to three strikes by various trades and the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the construction crews leave, there’ll be a time period for the police service to actually move in and for the many complex systems to be tested for deficiencies.
Police Board Chair Jack Miller says that the building inside is very impressive and will service the community for years.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk thanked the people involved in the planning of a hugely complex project and called it a “massive transformation”.
