An early morning fire destroyed a house on the Tyendinaga Territory today (Sunday).
The Mohawk and Tyendinaga Township fire departments were called to a large L-shaped wood frame bungalow at 1387 York Road at 3:00 am

All of the residents and pets escaped safely however firefighters had to wake one man who was sleeping in a basement apartment.
Crews will be on scene for some time this morning.
An investigation into a cause of the fire is underway but it started at the rear of the house.
