A young woman begins a stand-up paddleboard trip Wednesday as an awareness campaign about the plastic pollution of Lake Ontario.
It is all part of the Love Your Lake program of the not for profit, A Greener Future.
Rochelle Byrne, the founder and Executive Director, plans to stand-up paddle Lake Ontario from Kingston to Niagara on the Lake, a 420 kilometre trip.
The 5’3″ Byrne will paddle the 14′ board six hours a day through the month of July.
And she’ll be busy during that time, not just with paddling.
There will be a live tracking map on A Greener Future website and Instagram.
A Greener Future runs an annual cleanup program along the lakeshore, which this year will be narrowed down to individual cleanups because of COVID-19.
To hear more of this charitable paddling adventure, listen to Newsmaker Sunday this Sunday at the noon hour on 800 CJBQ.
Host Mary Thomas talks with the paddleboarder Rochelle Byrne as she heads out on this month-long trip.
