Hockey Canada has released the 113 player roster for the national under 17 development camp and the OMHA Champion Quinte Red Devils lead the country with five players selected.
Forwards Daylyn Wakely (Port Hope) , Cooper Matthews (Belleville), and Owen Beck (Port Hope) are joined by defencemen Donovan McCoy (Belleville) and Aaron Brown (Belleville).
All 5 were selected during April’s Ontario Hockey League draft.
McCoy was a first round pick of the Peterborough Petes. Beck, Wakely and Matthews were second round selections to the Mississauga Steelheads, North Bay Battalion and Barrie Colts respectively. Aaron Brown went in the third round to the Flint Firebirds.
Hockey Canada’s virtual national under 17 camp will be held July 19th to the 25th.
The camp is the first step towards the 2020 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge this fall.
