Break and enter
On June 19, 2020 at 8:50 a.m., police attended to a break-in at a business on the far east end of Station Street. The discovery alerted a business worker that unknown person(s) had entered the business grounds some time during the evening prior. A small amount of loose change along with gasoline cans and grass seed were among the items stolen. Mischief to business
On June 19, 2020 around 12:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a damaged window at a store on Front Street. An investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) threw a rock through a window at the rear of the business. Damage is estimated to be approximately $1,500. An investigation is ongoing. Breach of recognizance – held for bail
On June 19, 2020 at 5:52 p.m., police were called to a disturbance in the area of College Street West and Sarah Court. The investigation revealed that an involved man was not to be in the company of a certain woman. The 38-year-old city man was arrested and taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with breaching a condition of an earlier recognizance, and possessing a controlled substance. He has been held in custody to appear before the weekend and statutory holiday court via video on June 20.
Arrested on warrants / drugs seized
On June 20, 2020 around 12:30 a.m., police patrolling Front Street came across a suspicious Prince Edward County man. An investigation revealed the man was wanted by the Lennox and Addington Ontario Provincial Police on criminal charges of failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to comply with a release order. The man was also found to be breaching a probation order held in Belleville. A search of the man, incident to arrest, found him to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine. Thirty-four-year-old Timothy Allen Sharpe was released on an undertaking by city police to attend Provincial Court in Belleville on August 30 for the charges of failing to comply with a probation order and possession of a substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was then handed over the Lennox and Addington OPP for process of their arrest warrants.
