Quinte West, ON: Despite several postponements, the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce has now cancelled the dinner portion of their AGM & President’s Dinner. With the continued restrictions of large gatherings due to COVID-19, the in-person dinner on June 25th has been replaced with a virtual event.
The organizing committee will host the Presidents Awards & AGM through a live feed of the presentation from our Chamber Boardroom. The Chamber will host their AGM followed by the President’s Awards and the Honorary Life Time Membership to Kelly Scott. Our guests will connect through Zoom and all business members are encouraged to register through www.quintewestchamber.ca/events or call the office at 613-392-7635.
“It is our honour this year to recognize Kelly Scott with an Honorary Lifetime Membership,” said Quinte West Chamber president Lori Denis. “Kelly started working in his fathers business, Dave Scott’s Haulage and Excavating at 5 years old, sweeping floors and cleaning tools. He starting working there full time in 1978, eventually taking over the business in 1985 due to a family illness. Since then he has successfully grown this company while at the same time giving back countless hours to economic development and the youth of this community through his tireless work with minor hockey and the soccer club.”
Members of the public are encouraged to go onto the Quinte West Chamber Facebook where there is a special post where you can leave comments and congratulations for Kelly, as we know he has made a great impact in the community that has been felt by so many.
Kelly is well known in the Quinte area for his generosity and his volunteerism. Since its inception in 1959, Scott’s Haulage has been a generous corporate citizen of our community. Following in his fathers footsteps, Kelly Scott continues to run the business with the same commitment to quality, service and community that it was founded on over sixty years ago. It all started with a single dump truck and a strong dose of determination and, through the years, it has grown, acquiring more equipment and hiring more staff to become a leading provider of aggregate and haulage in the Quinte area. Scott’s Haulage is involved in many community projects and provides sponsorships and support to many services clubs, charities and community groups. He is an inductee of the YMCA Sports Hall of Fame; being recognized for all he has done for the kids of our community. He currently sits on the City of Quinte West Economic Development and Tourism Committee and is a strong supporter of Quinte West businesses and the Chamber of Commerce.
“Kelly has done so much to make his local community a better place to live for everyone, especially the youth,” said chamber manager Suzanne Andrews. “He has often stated, that after his family, his decades of volunteering with minor hockey and the Quinte West Soccer Club are two of the most satisfying things in his life. He is giving back for all the help him and his friends received growing up here and believes that Quinte West is a great place to live, work and raise a family. Kelly has helped out numerous other businesses in the area and is a true ambassador for the entire business community.”
The Honorary Life Time Membership is awarded to local business people that have given freely of their time and expertise over the years to contribute to the growth of our community.
