The Belleville Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for families who are willing to participate in the city’s Canada Day Drive-by.
People with red, white or silver vehicles are being asked to decorate them with flags, banners and whatever else they can come up with to join a parade that will pass by the hospital and long-term care facilities.
The “Canada Day Drive-by” will be limited to 20 vehicles based on safety guidelines provided by the Belleville Police Service.
The route will be published closer to July 1 and the Chamber is hoping residents along the way will cheer the procession on.
The Chamber is also launching an art contest where children under the age of 12 can draw a picture of their COVID hero and explain why they felt they were an important person to them while their lives were also changed.
Healthcare and front line workers are obvious heroes but there are many others who went to work every day to make sure people had food, power, communication and other necessary products on the shelves.
The Chamber is looking to the creativity of children in our community to remind us of how many people we should consider thanking.
The artwork will be exhibited in a variety of ways once all submissions are entered. The deadline is June 26, 2020.
