A soldier who fell through the ice of a lake in Algonquin Provincial Park has been rescued by search and rescue personnel from C-F-B Trenton. An official at the Eight Wing Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says the man broke the ice of Dace Lake during a military adventure training program early yesterday afternoon, and two military aircraft from Trenton’s 4-2-4 squadron responded. A C-130 Hercules dropped flares, and two sartechs parachuted to the scene from a Griffen helicopter, stabilizing the man, who had suffered a back injury. He was finally flown to hospital in Huntsville overnight for treatment.
