Residents and visitors who want to get out and enjoy nature or support local businesses will have greater access to public washrooms starting this weekend.
The County of Prince Edward is taking extra precautions as it opens washroom facilities across the municipality. The County is following the advice of Hastings Prince Edward Public Health and the lessons learned when washrooms were open in three locations during the last two weekends.
Permanent washroom locations
Building washrooms will be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. seven days a week. They will be cleaned twice a day. Building washrooms are located at:
- Skate Park, Picton Fairgrounds
- Benson Park, Picton
- Wellington Park, Wellington
- Millpond Park, Bloomfield
- Town Hall, Bloomfield
- West Fall Park, Carrying Place
- Roblin Lake Park, Ameliasburgh
These facilities have been adapted for single use only and to minimize touch surfaces. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, washroom users must respect the signs posted and take the following precautions:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Use paper towels for hand drying
- Stay 2 metres/6 feet apart from others when waiting or entering a bathroom
Seasonal washroom locations
Portable toilets are also available in several other locations to expand services across the County. The portable toilets will be equipped with hand sanitizer or portable sinks, and will be cleaned daily. They are located at:
- Jack Taylor Park, Hillier
- North Marysburgh Town Hall, Waupoos
- Wellington Beach, Wellington (the existing permanent washrooms have showers and are not able to open under the Stage 2 provincial order)
- Glendon Green Boat Launch, Athol
- Weller’s Bay/Edward Drive Boat Launch, Consecon
- Rossmore Boat Launch, Rossmore
- Northport Boat Launch, Sophiasburgh
- South Bay Boat Launch, South Marysburgh
