There is some disappointing news for student athletes at Loyalist College and other institutions across Ontario.
The Ontario College Athletic Association has decided to suspend varsity sports and recreation activities planned for the 2020 fall semester in the interest of the health and safety of athletes, staff and students at its 27-member schools.
Affected sports at Loyalist include rugby, outdoor soccer and cross country running, with baseball, softball, and golf seasons also being cancelled at schools that have those programs.
Winter sports that include the Lancer’s basketball and volleyball teams are still planning to go ahead at this point, but with reduced schedules.
