If there was a way to stamp out COVID-19, we would ALL rally around that. One Belleville man is putting a unique twist on that thought. Michael Krysak says “if you look back in history during tough times around the world, people needed to rally around a symbol.”
Krysak decided to make a symbol people could understand to “cancel” the COVID-19 pandemic. He designed a patch with the COVID virus and a big line through it. Krysak says he originally just did a run of patches for his co-workers at Geen’s Pharmasave.
“The staff there pinned them to their smocks since they were all deemed essential workers.” Krysak says it just grew from there. “My friend Cliff Coulter set up a website for me to help get the word out” and he started selling the patches. Krysak said he did not want to make money from this. “This is definitely a tragedy and the last thing I want to do is benefit from this.” Krysak decided he would donate all the proceeds to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation to help front line workers.
If anyone wants to purchase a patch to sew on or iron on they can visit his website at www.mk-design.ca. Belleville General Hospital Foundation Executive Director Steve Cook says “We appreciate people like Michael Krysak who have a unique idea and turn it into a fundraiser for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. What a great way to support BGHF.”
