Update: Quinte West City Staff say the Carrying Place Swing Bridge will be closed until at least the end of the day Friday.
The bridge was damaged Wednesday morning, when a farm tractor crashed into it and it has been closed since, awaiting repairs and inspection.
Quinte News has learned that the needed repair materials have been received by Parks Canada and engineers are on site, but will need more time to finish the fix.
Quinte West’s Community Engagement Officer Hannah Brown says they and Parks Canada understand the importance of getting the bridge open prior to the weekend and they expect that to be the case.
