A 36-year-old person is in custody awaiting a bail hearing for a host of charges after being stopped by police yesterday in the Town of Deseronto.
Just before 3:00 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer from the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County detachment was patrolling in Deseronto when they observed a vehicle being driven on Dundas Street.
The officer recognized the driver of that vehicle to be someone who was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, 36-year old Nathan Dobratz, of no fixed address, was placed under arrest for driving while prohibited by the Criminal Code.
During the course of the investigation the officer observed that the accused was in possession of a number of items, including a replica handgun, which he was prohibited from possessing.
A quantity of cannabis and other drugs was also seized from the accused.
The accused remains in police custody and will appear via video in the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing later this afternoon. He has been charged with:
- Driving while prohibited;
- Eleven counts of failing to comply with bail conditions;
- Breaching a probation order;
- Two counts of possession of Schedule 1 substances (suspected cocaine and methamphetamine);
- Possession of cannabis for the purposes of selling;
- Using a plate not authorized for a vehicle and;
- Operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
