Business closures and widespread layoffs have hurt the economy badly and City of Quinte West staff are recommending that a
special task force be created to work on reinvigorating the local economy as pandemic restrictions continue to be eased.
Quinte West’s Economic Development staff have been meeting community business groups and neighbouring municipalities to exchange ideas on how best to deal with the crisis.
If council approves an Economic Recovery Task Force it would be led by Mayor Jim Harrison and include some other council members and several others from the local and regional business community.
Council will deal with the issue at its virtual meeting at 6:30 Tuesday.
