One of the changes implemented by Prince Edward County’s new Chief Administrative Officer Marcia Wallace when she began her role back in December, would be to provide quarterly updates to council.
During Tuesday night’s virtual council meeting CAO Wallace provided her first update.
The report took a look at the key activities and challenges faced by the municipality in the first three months of the year, as well as a portion of the second quarter.
The report states that work has proceeded in a number of areas despite a slower than expected start due to COVID-19, but Wallace feels the County will be able to meet all of their financial obligations.
In terms of finances, the deferral of final tax bills and the cancellation of all penalties and interest has placed a considerable strain on the municipality’s cash flows.
She also expects Prince Edward County will see reduced revenues as a result of COVID-19.
Councillor John Hirsch complimented the report, stating he was impressed with how thorough the report was.
He said it really does summarize the County in a way residents can understand.
