The Belleville Police Service and community are mourning after the passing of Mike Graham, a long time officer with the local police service and a former city councillor.
Graham, in his mid-60s, passed after battling a lengthy illness.
Police Chief Ron Gignac offered his condolences on the loss of the former Inspector.
His remarks are in full below.
With sadness, we received notice of the passing of retired Inspector Mike Graham. A very sad time for Mike’s wife and family, and the Belleville Police Force. Mike retired December 31, 2013 with almost 32 years of service, having joined the Belleville Police Service March 8, 1982. Inspector Graham loyally and faithfully served our City as a police officer for over 3 decades serving within various specialty units, front line platoons, and investigations units. His impact upon the public safety and security of our City cannot be understated as he progressed through the ranks to his final post of commanding the investigations Division of the Force as an Inspector. His spirit and character of service to others achieved high station here within the Belleville Police Force, and within our City, marked by his passion as a City Councillor following his retirement from policing.
I express my gratitude and sincere condolences to Inspector Grahams wife and family. I thank her for the many sacrifices that her and her family made in support of Mike’s career as an Officer. As a police family, we also mourn Mike’s passing, and offer our support, love, and prayers to Margo and the Graham family.
Inspector Mike Graham made a significant difference for good in our Police Force. We salute Inspector Mike Graham for his outstanding service excellence and service to citizens within our City, his family, and the people of this Region. Inspector Graham is honoured by us for his devotion to making a positive difference for good in our City, our Region, and our Country as a Police Officer, as a City Councillor, and as a husband and father. He will be fondly remembered by us.
