A Belleville woman appeared in court today (Thursday) to face charges stemming from a fatal fire in east end Belleville last summer.
Belleville Police say 31-year-old Jessica Jeanneault-Pearson is facing charges of second degree murder and arson with a disregard for human life after a house was set on fire on Dundas Street East last July.
As a result of the fire 35-year-old Damon Jewett died in hospital due to his injuries.
Jeanneault-Pearson was arrested on Wednesday following a criminal investigation.
She was also charged with three counts of breaching her release, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) as she was found to be in possession of drugs at the time of her arrest.
Jeannault-Pearson was remanded into custody following a show cause hearing.
