Tyendinaga Township is a small rural municipality, but is a recreational Mecca.
With soccer pitches, four ball diamonds and a recreation complex, it can often have dozens or hundreds of vehicles on site during the spring and summer.
This year will not be the same.
The municipality is cancelling the spring and summer Adult and Youth programs.
CAO Brad Roach says they want to be cautious during the pandemic.
Roach was quick to point out however, that as HPE Public Health, and upper tier governments lift social distancing rules, they can still move to a shorter season or tournament style completion to the year.
The South Hastings Baseball League is also in jeopardy. Roach says if the fields remain closed, the league’s 87th year could be cancelled, but they are working with the league.
