Like the parent NHL, the American Hockey League has been on hold since March 12th.
While the season has not been officially cancelled, it is a given the “gate driven” league and would not be able to operate without fans.
According to an unidentified source, the AHL is quite likely to cancel the rest of the season when the Board of Governors meets next week.
The AHL responded by saying there is “nothing imminent” in terms of calling off the remainder of the season.
The Belleville Senators last game was March 11th in Laval.
At that time Belleville was in first place in the North Division.
Last week, AHL President and CEO David Andrews said the league was “pivoting” to the 2020-21 season but added nothing was official.
