The Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service between April 26, 2020 at 5 a.m. and the April 27, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Break & Enter, Mischief to Property
On April 27, 2020 at approximately 2:30 p.m., police received a complaint of a suspect who had broken into the garage of an East end residence and fled the scene with the complainant’s bicycle. Police were given a description of the suspect and the bicycle that was stolen.
A short time later, police were able to locate the suspect with the stolen bicycle on Church Street. The accused Belleville resident, 27-year-old, Aaron Woods was charged with Mischief to Property and Break and Enter. The bike had been vandalized with spray paint and had a front basket removed along with other damage.
The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear at the Belleville Court of Justice to answer to the two criminal charges on June 25, 2020.
Missing Dog
On April 27, 2020 at approximately 4 p.m., city police were advised of a possible animal cruelty complaint. A man was seen with a black Lab Rottweiler cross which was laying down in the ditch along Old Hwy 2 near Mitchell Side Rd.
A passerby stopped and took the suspected owner’s dog and placed it in their vehicle and drove away.

Drive Disqualified / 45 Day Vehicle Impoundment
On April 27, 2020 at approximately 9 p.m., city police stopped a vehicle on Haig Rd at Dundas St E for Highway Traffic Act violations. During the investigation, the officer found the driver to be a Disqualified Driver for criminal matters.
Thirty-two-year-old Deseronto resident, Chris Roberts was charged with one count of Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited under the criminal code. The accused vehicle was impounded for 45 days. Mr. Roberts was also issued some Provincial Offence Act Summons for traffic violations and will be attending the Belleville Court of Justice to answer to his charge on June 25, 2020.
On April 27, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m., another city officer stopped a vehicle on Cannifton Rd in regards to a traffic violation. During that investigation the officer found the driver to be a Disqualified Driver for criminal matters.
Thirty-three-year-old Belleville resident, Joseph Dunkley was charged with one count of Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited under the criminal code. The accused vehicle was impounded for 45 days and Mr. Dunkley will be attending the Belleville Court of Justice to answer to his charge on June 25, 2020.
