The Hastings Prince Edward Medical Officer of Health will be holding another Facebook live event tomorrow (Thursday).
Dr. Piotr Oglaza will go live at 1 p.m. via the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Facebook page to update viewers on the current status of COVID-19 cases locally, any new information and to answer residents’ questions.
People can participate by asking questions directly during the broadcast.
This will be Oglaza’s last Facebook live event for three weeks as he will be taking some time off for the birth of his third child.
He is set to return May 18.
During Oglaza’s leave, COVID-19 response direction will be provided by Dr. Alexa Caturay and Dr. Eathan Toumishey, supported by Eric Serwotka, Director of Public Health Programs and Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Program Managers.
Dr. Toumishey will be providing the weekly online updates during Oglaza’s leave.
Dr. Caturay has been consulting with HPEPH as a Sexual Health Clinic physician. She holds a wealth of expertise as a Public Health and Preventive Medicine Specialist, having completed medical training at McMaster University and specialty training at Queen’s University, in addition to a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Toronto and Global Health Leadership training with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Toumishey is trained as a family physician, having completed a Master’s of Public Health at Queen’s University and medical degree at Dalhousie University. Dr. Toumishey is currently a senior Public Health and Preventive Medicine medical resident with Queen’s University and has been working alongside Dr. Olgaza since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Having been at HPEPH for the duration of the pandemic, Dr. Toumishey is well-versed in the many facets of the COVID-19 response executed by HPEPH and will be providing the weekly COVID-19 Facebook Live update on Thursday afternoons until Dr. Oglaza’s return during the week of May 18.
