A Belleville man faces serious charges after a violent home invasion early this morning (Thursday).
City police report a residence was broken into in the northeast part of Belleville at around 2:30 and the home’s owner was assaulted.
Significant damage was caused to the home’s front door but there were no injuries.
Officers have charged 31-year-old Shawn Hiddleston with break and enter, assault, mischief, weapons dangerous, and possession of a controlled substance.
The accused and the victim were not known to each other.
Hiddleston appears in court July 9.
