Belleville Transit is getting some significant financial help from upper levels of government.
The city is receiving a combined $5 million from the federal and provincial governments and will use the cash to buy four new buses and make upgrades to bus shelters.
The feds are committing just over $2.6 million, with the province pitching in another $2.2 million or so.
The money will help to move ahead with the North East Industrial Park Transit Improvement Project and eventually, to expand regional service into Ward 2.
